LLANDUDNO, the largest and one of the most popular seaside resorts of North Wales, situated between the headlands of the Great Orme and Little Orme, has been attracting visitors since Victorian times when the town was transformed from a mining and fishing village to a resort, and the railways made many places more easily accessible. The facades of many of the imposing buildings along the seafront will testify to this age of grandeur. People have been coming for generations to enjoy the views of Snowdonia, the Isle of Man and the Lake District from the Great Orme, a 700 ft. limestone headland, which was mined for  copper in Roman times, explore the magnificent surrounding scenery or just relax on a sunny day. Today, the town has many of the facilities that are expected of a modern resort, but still retains its traditional pier, one of the finest in Britain.
